- 1/4 cup split moong dal
- 1/4 cup split black urad dal
- 1/4 cup chana dal or split gram dal
- 1/4 cup masoor dal
- 1/4 cup yellow moong dal & tuvar dal or arhar dal
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 tomato finely chopped
- 1 table spoon ginger garlic paste
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cloves
- 1 green chili finely chopped
- 4 table spoon oil
- 1 table spoon mustard seeds
- 1 table spoon cumin seeds
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 1 table spoon turmeric powder
- 1 table spoon cumin coriander powder
- 1 table spoon red chili powder
- 1 table spoon kashmiri red chili powder
- 1 table spoon garam masala
- as per taste Salt
- as required Coriander for garnishing
- For bati
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1/2 cup semolina or rava
- 4 table spoon ghee or clarified butter
- as per taste Salt
- As required Water to knead the dough
- For churma
- 3 batis
- 2 table spoon ghee or clarified butter
- 2 table spoon powdered sugar
- 7-8 almonds
- 7-8 cashews
- 2-3 cardamom
Instructions to make to make Dal bati churma
- Mix all dals. Soak for 2 hours. Pressure cook for 6 to 7 whistles
- Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, green chili, bay leaf, asaefoetida saute for minute. Add onion. Saute till it turn into golden brown colour.
- Add curry leaves, cumin coriander powder, red chili powder, kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder & garam masala.
- Pour dal. Add salt & water. Adjust consistency. Boil for 15 minutes.
- In mixing bowl take wheat flour, semolina, ghee & salt. Mix all well.
- Knead dough tightly.
- Make 10 balls. Give shape like shown in picture. Fold from all side. Make a ball.
- Make 10 equal balls.
- Roast on stove rack on low medium flame. It will take 15 to 20 minutes to roast bati completely.
- Crush 3 batis in mixer jar. Add sugar, ghee & dry fruits. Blend in mixer coarsely.
- Dal bati is ready. Serve with garlic chutney, masala buttermilk, sliced onion & lemon slices. Enjoy the whole thali.
